Willoughby Update

The Willoughby neighbourhood has been on our hearts for many years, and as more people move into this rapidly developing and diverse neighbourhood, we feel an increased call from God to serve them. We believe there is a missional, evangelistic and kingdom opportunity for us to take part in what God is doing with a vision to reach many people with the gospel and create a place and community of belonging. We also believe that Jesus and the Holy Spirit can and should be at the center of healthy and thriving communities. 

Alpha

For the last couple of years, we have seen God move as we have faithfully served this community through several programs, initiatives, and by connecting with many neighbours. As we build relationships, we continue to feel a desire to invite people into further Christian community and faith. Therefore, this coming fall, we will be hosting Alpha at Focus on the Family on Sundays over lunch, starting on October 19.

Alpha is a discussion-based program that walks groups through a series of videos explaining and exploring the basics of Christian faith. Some topics that it touches on include: Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus have to die? Why and how do I pray? Who is the Holy Spirit? Why and how should I read the Bible? and more... A crucial part of Alpha is also eating together around tables, so we will be hosting it on Sundays over a provided lunch. To make room for young families, childcare will also be provided!

One thing we have noticed as we’ve been serving Willoughby and within our church is the number of people interested in and new to faith. We believe that Alpha is an amazing place for people to connect with a deeper community, build relationships, and explore faith in a comfortable environment.

Willoughby Updates

As our life groups, outreach, and relationships within the Willoughby community grow, we would imagine that weekend services will at some point be important to complement the work and ministry that we are presently doing and will be doing in the future.  

With that in mind, we are starting to form ministry and leadership teams. If you are interested in news about Willoughby, ways to get involved, support and pray, you can sign up here for electronic updates specific to Willoughby that we will be sending out regularly.

For all those who have already gotten involved, attended events and shown support, we want to say thank you. We have already seen the fruit of that faithfulness and believe that the Holy Spirit is going to continue to do an amazing work in Willoughby through His people. 

We are grateful for what God has done and excited for what is next in Willoughby: people coming to know Jesus, connecting to a faith community, and finding a place of belonging.
