Up until this point, we've been tracking with the events of the day of the resurrection: the early morning discovery of the empty tomb and the bewildering angelic message that Jesus was alive; the confirmation of the empty tomb by Simon Peter; Jesus’ conversation with the two disciples on their way to Emmaus; their hurried return back to Jerusalem; Jesus’ appearance to Simon Peter. And finally, Jesus’ coming to be among all the disciples — to reassure him that he really and truly is flesh and blood — and to give them final instructions to be witnesses, and to wait for the Holy Spirit. All this in one emotional, amazing 24-hour period.
