We are continuing to spend time in the Gospel of Luke today. Like last week, we’re looking at the story of two disciples’ encounter with Jesus while they are walking the 7-mile road from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Not only is this our first encounter of the resurrected Jesus in the book of Luke, but the suspense of this first encounter is drawn out by these two disciples’ inability to recognize Jesus. Luke has crafted this account of what happened so that we are led, along with the disciples, through a process of discovering Jesus. So let’s walk that journey with them.
